The objectives of the Mornington Peninsula Wine and Food Society are:

  • To promote an appreciation of wine, food and the culinary art
  • To afford to members, facilities for meeting one another and entertaining their friends
  • To encourage the highest standards of preparation and presentation of wines and food amongst restaurateurs
  • To enhance members’ knowledge and appreciation of wine and food

We usually arrange five or six lunch or dinner functions each year (including the Annual General Meeting) at which we try to offer a broad range of special dining events, usually held in local restaurants, wineries and clubs. Menus and dishes are generally created exclusively for these functions by chefs who often come to the dining room to give an insight into their choice and preparation of the menu.

Similarly, at wineries, the winemaker is often available to provide insight into vineyard and winery trials and tribulations. The wines are carefully matched to the food by our Wine Master and there is usually an informal discussion about the wines to enhance appreciation.

Members are welcome to invite their friends to our functions, depending on the size of the venue, but with the exception of the AGM which is a “members only” function.
